Dear Parishioners, 

Today's Gospel is the important miracle story of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes ... this story appears in all four Gospels and twice again in Matthew and Mark ...  when we think of this Gospel story naturally and immediately think of the Eucharist and Jesus always and everywhere feeding us with His own Body and Blood ... the story may also remind us to say grace before eating, thanking God for all the food we take for granted; we are reminded not to waste food because Jesus told His disciples to collect the leftovers; we are reminded that Jesus is willing to feed and to nourish all who seek HIm ... the Eucharist is a miracle --- the multiplication continues in front of our eyes at every Mass.  

Two weeks again, I wrote how grateful I am for your constant financial support of the parish and our facility projects ... now let me add what is even more important and impressive --- your support of the parishes spiritual, educational and religious activities and programs ... just to name a few --- CCD volunteer teachers, 3 choirs, altar servers, lectors, 2 prayer groups, bereavement  director, ushers, all members of our parish societies (Holy Name, Sagrado Corazon, Knights, Guadalupe Committee, Cursillo, Black Catholic Ministry, NA, AA, OA, Magnificat, Life in the Spirit, Walking with Purpose), elementary school enrollment, parent involvement, volunteer sports CYO program, volunteers who take care of the altar linens, volunteers who help with the counting of the weekly collections, Parish Council --- and I am sure I have forgotten some group or two or three!  This pastor and our priests and deacons are lucky to have you all ... thank you, God bless and keep up the good work!  


El Evangelio de hoy nos presenta el importante relato milagroso de la multiplicación de los panes y los peces... esta historia aparece en los cuatro Evangelios, y se repite en los de Mateo y Marcos... al pensar en este pasaje evangélico, naturalmente nos viene a la mente la Eucaristía y cómo Jesús, siempre y en todo lugar, nos alimenta con su propio Cuerpo y Sangre... este relato también nos recuerda la importancia de dar gracias a Dios antes de comer por todos los alimentos que a menudo damos por sentado; nos recuerda que no debemos desperdiciar comida, pues Jesús pidió a sus discípulos que recogieran las sobras; y nos recuerda que Jesús está dispuesto a alimentar y nutrir a todos los que le buscan... la Eucaristía es un milagro: esa multiplicación continúa ante nuestros ojos en cada Misa. 

Hace dos semanas escribí sobre lo agradecido que estoy por su constante apoyo económico a la parroquia y a nuestros proyectos de infraestructura... ahora permítanme añadir algo aún más importante e impresionante: su apoyo a las actividades y programas espirituales, educativos y religiosos de la parroquia... por mencionar solo algunos: los maestros voluntarios de catequesis (CCD), los tres coros, los monaguillos, los lectores, los dos grupos de oración, el coordinador de duelo, los ujieres, todos los miembros de nuestras asociaciones parroquiales (Sociedad del Santo Nombre, Sagrado Corazón, Caballeros de Colón, Comité Guadalupano, Cursillo, Ministerio de Católicos Afroamericanos, NA, AA, OA, Magnificat, Vida en el Espíritu, Walking with Purpose), las inscripciones en la escuela primaria, la participación de los padres, el programa deportivo voluntario CYO, los voluntarios que cuidan la mantelería del altar, los que ayudan a contar las colectas semanales, el Consejo Parroquial... ¡y estoy seguro de que olvido algún grupo, o dos o tres! Este párroco, junto con nuestros sacerdotes y diáconos, tiene la fortuna de contar con todos ustedes... ¡gracias, que Dios los bendiga y sigan adelante con su excelente labor!
