Dear Parishioners, 

This weekend the nation is honoring the
memory and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. --
born January 15, 1929 and assassinated on April 4,
1968 ... Dr. King was part of a long line of Southern
Baptist ministers and pastors ... he is remembered for
his civil rights activism in the South and he is a
champion of non-violent protests ... on August 28,
1963 at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC, Dr.
King delivered his famous inspirational speech "i have
a dream" and called America to our lofty and noble
principles of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness
for all people ... go to the internet and read the
speech ... I think Dr. King would be able to give that
same speech to us in 2026 and encourage us in the
ways of non-violence, human rights and genuine
respect and civility, especially in our speech ...
although Dr. King was not perfect, he was a Christian
calling us to greater things in our country ... he had a
DREAM and we wonder now if we have instead a
NIGHTMARE in our country ... dreams are meant to
come true ... let us pray.

Este fin de semana la nación honra la memoria y el
legado del Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. -- nacido el 15 de enero
de 1929 y asesinado el 4 de abril de 1968 ... El Dr. King fue
parte de una larga línea de ministros y pastores bautistas del
sur ... se le recuerda por su activismo en los derechos civiles
en el Sur y es un defensor de las protestas no violentas ... el 28
de agosto de 1963 en el Lincoln Memorial en Washington,
DC, el Dr. King pronunció su famoso discurso inspirador
"Tengo un sueño" y llamó a Estados Unidos a nuestros
principios elevados y nobles de vida, libertad y búsqueda de la
felicidad para todas las personas ... vayan a internet y lean el
discurso ... Creo que el Dr. King podría darnos ese mismo
discurso en 2026 y animarnos en los caminos de la no
violencia, los derechos humanos y el respeto genuino y la
civilidad, especialmente en nuestro lenguaje ... aunque el Dr.
King no era perfecto, fue un cristiano que nos llamaba a cosas
más grandes en nuestro país ... él tuvo un SUEÑO y ahora nos
preguntamos si en cambio tenemos un NI ... Él tuvo un
SUEÑO y ahora nos preguntamos si en cambio tenemos una
PESADILLA en nuestro país... los sueños están destinados a
hacerse realidad... oremos.
