Dear Parishioners, 

We are celebrating Father's Day this weekend,
always the 3rd Sunday of June ... the first celebration of
Father's Day occurred in Washington State on June 19, 1910
and it was because Sonora Smart Dodd wanted to honor her
father of six who was a widower and raised the children ...
President Richard Nixon signed a proclamation in 1972
making this a national holiday ... as Christians we are well
aware that Jesus so often call upon His Father, always
listened to His will, was obedient until the Cross ... Jesus
taught us OUR FATHER ... and so today a prayer, a thought,
a kind gesture, a hug and a kiss to the "fathers" in our lives --
- fathers, grandfathers, uncles, priests, teachers, coaches and
all the men who love, teach and give us their good
example ... may God bless always. 

Este fin de semana celebramos el Día del Padre, que siempre
es el tercer domingo de junio … la primera celebración del Día
del Padre tuvo lugar en el estado de Washington el 19 de junio
de 1910, y fue porque Sonora Smart Dodd quería honrar a su
padre, quien, siendo viudo, crió a sus seis hijos … el presidente
Richard Nixon firmó una proclamación en 1972 que lo convirtió
en una festividad nacional … como cristianos, sabemos bien que
Jesús invocaba con frecuencia a su Padre, siempre escuchaba su
voluntad y fue obediente hasta la Cruz … Jesús nos enseñó el
PADRE NUESTRO … y así hoy ofrecemos una oración, un
pensamiento, un gesto amable, un abrazo y un beso a los
“padres” en nuestras vidas — padres, abuelos, tíos, sacerdotes,
maestros, entrenadores y todos los hombres que nos aman, nos
enseñan y nos dan su buen ejemplo … que Dios los bendiga
siempre.
