Dear Parishioners, 

Pope Leo has sent the universal
church a message for Lent ... he
encourages all of us to LISTEN TO THE
WORD OF GOD ... in the Scriptures, God
is giving us a message, His word, His
game plan ... do we really listen to the
Scriptures, the Bible when we come to church for Mass or
arrive late ... listening is important to enter into a
relationship with a person, says the Pope ... he also
encourages FASTING ... are we hungry for justice, thirsty
for goodness ... self-denial helps us to discover what is
truly important in our lives ... we are not slaves to food,
drink, the cell phone, pornography or gossip ...
LISTENING can help us to a greater attentiveness to God;
FASTING can help us to be more attentive to the needs of
others ... let's give it a try ... HAPPY LENT.

El Papa León XIII ha enviado a la Iglesia
universal un mensaje para la Cuaresma. Nos anima
a todos a ESCUCHAR LA PALABRA DE DIOS.
En las Escrituras, Dios nos da un mensaje, su
palabra, su plan. ¿Realmente escuchamos las
Escrituras, la Biblia, cuando venimos a misa o
llegamos tarde? Escuchar es importante para entablar una
relación con una persona, dice el Papa. También anima a
AYUNO. ¿Tenemos hambre de justicia, sed de bondad? La
abnegación nos ayuda a descubrir lo que es verdaderamente
importante en nuestras vidas. No somos esclavos de la comida, la
bebida, el celular, la pornografía ni los chismes. ESCUCHAR
nos ayuda a estar más atentos a Dios; AYUNO nos ayuda a estar
más atentos a las necesidades de los demás. ¡Hagámoslo! ¡Feliz
Cuaresma!
